Yarn: 6/2 Cotton Pink

Gauge: 7 stitches/ 10 rows in 1” Tension 8 after machine wash cold and dry.

Before washing Chest 38” Length 29 1/2”

After Washing Chest 36” Length 25 1/2”

 

BACK:

Cast on 132 stitches. Set up garter carriage T-7 pattern #474

Knit garter stitch pattern for 26 rows.

Row Counter 0.

Main Carriage Tension 7.

Row Counter 0.

 Knit 158 rows.

Armhole Decreases:

Row Counter 0

T.O. 7 stitches

Knit 1 row 1 decrease 7 X*

Knit 2 rows 1 decrease 5 X

Continue knitting to row 74.

Set carriage in hold. Opposite side of the carriage Short row shoulders; 7 PK-3x each shoulder.

Knit 1 row across all needles.

Scrap off shoulder stitches 26 each side. Bind off 42 back neck stitches.

 

FRONT:

Repeat back to * continue with armhole decreases knit 2 rows 1 decrease 2 x.

Set up garter carriage to knit pattern #474. Continue decreasing armhole (knit 2 rows 1 decrease 3x) while running the garter carriage.

Knit garter stitches to row 50.

Set up main carriage and divide for neck decreases. 14 center stitches in hold plus stitches that are opposite side of carriage to armhole.

**Carriage set on hold.  Neck decreases; knit 1 row 1 decrease 7 X; Knit 2 rows 1 decrease 10 X.

Knit to row 74.

Set carriage in hold.

Short row shoulder 7 PK-3x

Knit across shoulder stitches.

Scrap off 26 shoulder stitches.**

Bind off center 14 stitches.

Repeat neck decreases and knitting on the other side* *

Join shoulders together.

 

Knit-In Sleeves:

Pull out to work position 110 needles.

Put armhole stitches up on these needles, at 0 place shoulder seam . Place T.O. stitches on end needles.

Knit 1 row across all needles. Cut yarn.

Short Row sleeve:

Carriage on hold. Pull out 36 needles each side to hold leaving 38 center needles.

Knit 1 row push in 2 needles opposite side of carriage. Knit 1 row across, wrap yarn under and over needle next to center knit stitches. Repeat for the other side. Continue increasing 2 stitches each side opposite side of the carriage till all needles are in work position.

Row Counter to 0

Set up garter carriage pattern #474.

Garter pattern knit decreasing sleeve each side;

Knit 3 1 decrease 9 x

Knit 2 row 1 decrease 10 X

Knit 2 Rows.

Bind off.

 

Seam sides together.

 

Crochet around neck edge.

 Crochet loose so sweater will fit over head after washed and dried.

 

Wash in cold/cold water

 

Dry on delicate or regular whatever you did to your swatch.

Back:
Cast on 108 stitches; garter carriage pattern #474.
Tension 7 Knit 20 rows garter carriage pattern.
Counter 0
Main Carriage tension 8
Knit 108 rows.
Counter 0
 
Armhole Shaping:
T.O. 5 stitches armhole each side.
Knit 1 row 1 decrease 4x each side
Knit 2 rows 1 decrease 3x each side*
Knit to row 57.
Carriage set on hold; PK 7st-3x each shoulder opposite side of carriage.
Set Carriage off hold.
Knit 1 row across all stitches.
Bind off 40 back neck center stitches. Scrap off 22 shoulder stitches each side.
 
Front:
Repeat back to* on row 10 set up garter carriage pattern #474.
Knit to row 40 with garter carriage. Divide for neck. Set up main carriage.
Opposite side of the carriage hold 14 center stitches plus stitches to armhole side opposite side of carriage.
*Neck Shaping Carriage side:
Knit 1 row 1 decrease 7x
Knit 2 rows 1 decrease 6 x
Knit 3 rows 1 decrease 1x
Knit to row 57 PK 7 stitches 3x
Knit across shoulder stitches 1 rows.
Scrap off shoulder. Bind off 14 center stitches
Repeat for other side*
Put left shoulder back  stitches up on machine, right side facing, on top of those stitches put up left shoulder front stitches wrong side facing. Knit across 1 row, bind off. Repeat for other shoulder.
 
Sleeve:
Put 84 needles into work position.
Wrong side facing place shoulder seam on needle 0. End 5 stitches on end needles and fit in the rest to the remaining needles in work position.
Knit 1 row across all needles tension 8, cut yarn.
Set up carriage on hold. Pull out needles both side to hold position leaving 28 center stitches in work position.
Knit 1 row, wrap under and over needle to prevent hole, push into work position 2 needles opposite side of the carriage, Knit 1 row wrap under and over needle. Continue on each side till all 84 needles are in work position.
Knit 8 rows.
Set up garter carriage pattern #474 Tension 7; knit in garter stitch and decrease at the same time.
Decrease each side 2 rows 1 decrease 12 times
1 row 1 decrease 2 times.
2 rows even.
Crochet around neck edge, I used a single loose crochet to all allow enough room for head to go through.
 
Join Side Seams.
 
Prewash sweater to allow for shrinkage.
 
Wash in cold/cold water in washer.
 
Dry on delicate.
